....a snow bunny...

Hi guys !

So, it's December already and Christmas is just around the corner.  The weather has been all over the news as snow has hit the country in a big way.  Heathrow airport in particular has been at a standstill for the last couple of days.  We had our Christmas party on the 10th at the usual place - Fairfield Halls in Croydon.
Much fun was had by everyone and the food was an all round success.

Today it's still snowing and I wait patiently for Christmas deliveries long overdue.  Yesterday, (Monday 20th December and my nephew Jamie's birthday) I ventured across London on a mission with my brother.  We fought off evil dementors at Balham tube station and packed ourselves sardine-like into the tube.  We "skated" down to Lambeth county court and back again.

The day before, Sunday December 19th, I visited my sister Jackie and my great nephew Kye, so that my daughter could go shopping for my christmas present with her cousin, Rebecca.  Megan and I frolicked like little snow bunnies in the local park.....

...a blog-blagger

Well, what can I say? I haven't been on here for so long it's farcical ! I have decided to upload a few pics to show what I have been up to - much quicker than trying to explain it all !

my sister Jackie had great fun on my birthday on 23 rd October 2010 at Tiger Tiger, Croydon.

...a step mother

Well, I can't believe how much has been going on that I haven't written about! I have been soooo busy I thought I had better get on here while I can and let the world know about it !!

Four people from work were leaving so we had a day out at Beddington Park.  That was fun though the toilets weren't open and we had to walk to the other side to use the pub loos. Will miss my colleagues very much though I think they will be happy where they are going  : )

Went down to Cornwall at the start of the Summer hols.We stayed with my daughter's half brothers and sister and their mum. Took them over to Kids world play park which was great fun although it was over too quickly.  Came back to London and visited my great niece and nephew.  Can't believe how quickly they are changing. Blink and you miss it !

Went to my friend's fancy dress leaving do on Friday August 6th.  Dressed as a pirate and had a 'whale' of a a time.  Met some new friends and got very drunk on Woo Woo's and The Dog's Bollox - which I made of course!

Saturday went to The Duke pub with my work friends.  Got totally bitten by some gnat on acid and now I'm covered in horrible bumps that itch like crazy : @

Got my daughter's half siblings staying over - well they are almost like my own really ! They wanted to stay longer but we have got to go to Spain Weds!!! update soon cos i'm being hailed again.....

...a public transport traveller

Can't believe that I walked all the way to the station then had to go back on myself because there were no trains !! Eventually got on a replacement bus and made it to Brockwell Park.  Had a good time but boy, was it hot today! That was really unexpected - I thought it was going to be cold!

Didn't enjoy my choice of food though - I chose Chicken fricasee and thought it looked lovely.  I took a bite and nearly broke my teeth as it was basically bones with rice.  I liked our class we went to which was how to laugh in 10 minutes or something like that.  I thought the woman who ran it was a bit strange though.

Bought a nice necklace too.  There was lots I didn't get to see as I got there so late : (

The music was good though and I won a little cow for my daughter in the duck hook game stall lol. she called it miss brockwell.

...a house sitter

Hi there folks. just been watching sat nite tv. On a large flat screen tv. It's pants 'cos nothing good is on ! I am currently housesitting for my brother.  It's really great to see our cat Sherby but it's weird being in my mum's house again - mainly because she is not here any more.

Loving the garden though, that is nice. Pity the weather has turned colder after being so hot for so long !

It was nice to see my friend Michelle again, she has just returned from St. Lucia, lucky her - she took some really beautiful photos too. I'm looking forward to when I go to Spain now oh, and Cornwall too.

I was very nostalgic today  - looking through some old books we used to read as kids.  My mum used to read us stories from Wilhelm Busch, a German author of children's books.

I am going to sign off now as I have to be up early tomorrow - going to the Lambeth country show at Brockwell Park.  I remember one year we got to go in the Mayor's tent and it was really posh! It's a pity my daughter doesn't want to come too, she is definetly at that awkward age of not wanting mum around.  Or maybe she just doesn't like me ......?

...a tv addict.

Can't believe how much tv I watch these days ! I am officially skint so I don't have much else to do really. I am currently addicted to The Hills. I should know better really but it's like eating ice cream ha ha . Talking of which, I have been very good  - back on my diet and sticking to it.  Been doing lots of sit ups as well - bit worried about my weight if truth be told.  I can't wait to see the knee surgeon next Wednesday. Hope he can sort something out for me so that I can do more exercise.

My daughter has nicked my lovely reclining chair so I am banished to the sofa.  I don't mind cos it's really comfy too.  I have been trying to stay ahead of my washing and washing up so it doesn't pile up.  It's like there's someone else living in my flat that comes out at night and uses all the glasses and plates ....spooky !

Fed up with not being able to use my printer. Keep forgetting to buy new ink! Tried to sneak print at work but the pc wouldn't recognise my version of word grrrrr.....

Meeting my teachers for next year but not sure my current head of year likes the fact she is being demoted to just plain teacher again.

Well that's it for another day, Adios amigos !

...a loafer!

Didn't go out at all yesterday and forgot to do my blog !

Had a great day pottering about and cleaning. My good friend Nic came over with a bottle of (bit dodgy ) wine, so that was nice. We put the world to right and watched Big Bro at the same time.

Weather is so hot I'm to scared to venture out so have closed my curtains and will just try and chill out. Need a freezer for that really but I will make do with my trusty fan.

Went to Tescos today - was a thousand times better than last week. Didn't have to queue for long and managed to get £78 out of my penny jar - hurrah! I wasn't impressed when the coin machine took £7 of it though : (

Spent most of my day sewing my daughter's homework for her. How did that happen? I think I really got into it actually which is weird as I hated sewing at school.  My only project was a nightdress that I started in the first year of secondary school and never, ever finished !!

Made a nice plain chicken dinner with rice. Did sit ups this morning AND I haven't bought or eaten anything bad today - will let you know tomorrow if I made it through the night.....

...an ex-sun seeker

Today was almost too hot for words...but here's a few:

skivers...people who string jobs out and hang around so they don't need to do any work;
whippersnappers....kids who are cheeky but are good deep down;
horsework....when you need to clean up but would rather horse around.

The last one I made up just now. The kids downstairs are playing in the paddling pool and I would love to join them but it's too hot and I have work to do : (

Spent most of the day stuffing envelopes in preparation for the annual reports to parents. The kids were playing up in one class as there is a supply teacher in there.  Didn't get time to chat to my daughter about her day when I got in as she literally got changed and had to go to her cheerleading class.  Won't catch up now till tomorrow evening.

I am going to chill out later on my lovely new recliner and have a nice long drink!

Adios amigos x

...an interior decorator.

Had a good day at work and I've found out for definite where I am next term.  I am happy to say that I have a great head of year and I am going to be working with a male teacher ! Not many of those about more's the pity. I was sad to hear someone moaning today about 'ex-offenders'. They are currently working voluntarily with children to give them positive role models.  I thought that the boys are doing a fantastic job and hope they keep it up.

By the way, I had my sofas delivered today! They look really good but my gosh the delivery driver who first came in had such an attitude on him, I had to put him in his place ! First he turned up early, then he moaned "you do know what you've ordered don't you?" After that he said "your paying cash aren't you?" When I confirmed that I was, he enquired, "do you know that I have to carry that amount of cash on me?"
After a bit of an earbashing from me, a long glass of iced water and a £10 tip we were both much happier people ! I explained to him that the store had agreed all the details so it wasn't really my fault.

Managed to smash my glass cabinet trying to move it and ended up needing a take away as it was nearly eight o clock by the time I sat down and cleared all the mess up ! Those sofas cost me more than I thought !

Happy Birthday to my brother in law Kev, hope it was a good day for you mate!

....a multi-tasker.

Really glad I managed to do as much as I could today. I made mad lists on my palm just to make sure I didn't forget anything ! I have an inkling that I will like where I'm gonna be next term : )  I am really tired tonight though so this will be a short blog.  Loving the show Eureka on my BT tv package.  Makes the forty pounds a month fee almost worth it....

Kids are still being annoying in class but I managed to keep my cool ! I am dreading tomorrow though cos I my sofas are coming and I am praying that I have enough to pay for them !

My nephews were really good and came and cleared my front room for me.  They walked the smaller sofa round to my niece's house ! Thanks G and J !

...a film critic.

Well, today was a bit weird actually. I had to run around for the whole day but felt really energetic at the end of it ! The weather has been cooler which is such a relief 'cos I actually slept well last night.
I went to lunch with the girls and swapped work gossip. Wasn't very interesting - just letting off steam really. Can't wait to find out where I'm going to be next year. It's not just the kids at school that shift around !
So after work, had to go and see my daughter's head of year.  She was very nice actually, which was a relief. I feel happier that the school is taking me seriously over this cyber bullying incident and have some options for my daughter to think about. Went straight to Croydon to get Sports Day clothing for tomorrow.  Why does she need purple everything ?? Half of her friends were there, doing the same thing !
Had very naughty maccy d's after and then met up with some friends Nic and Dave, for Nic's birthday.  Went to see Shrek 4 with them and some friends.  Didn't rate the film myself, it was not very funny - recycled jokes from the first 3 films.  Loved cat and donkey though. Can't stand that it was 3D as it cost more and I can't even see half the stuff because I have bad eyesight !
Caught up with my neighbours when I got back and talked briefly about what turf to cover the garden in. Wished I could stay out late and drink with them but still have to phone people to help me get rid of my sofas !  Roll on Thursday when my new sofas come !!
Haven't listened to much music lately but then there isn't much that I want to listen to.  Most of the stuff that's out there is recycled rubbish. Bring back the good old days when musicians actually wrote their own music and played instruments, hang on I'm reaching out for my Chili Pepper as I type....

...a sports fan ?

Well today went better than expected! Had to phone my daughter's school after I had a run in with a parent over Facebook - not a good situation to be in ! I felt like the victim even though it was over a child being bullied by another child.  I had reported it to the Facebook and the offending child's account ended up getting deleted. The child's parent wasn't happy.  It highlighted a lot of issues actually and made me review my own conduct.  Needless to say as a person working in education, to be on the safe side I should have no children on my account unless they were family.  My friends list looks a bit folorn now (gone are the days of Mr. Chips) but I feel confident that if anyone did want to check my account they wouldn't find anything dodgy !

On a lighter note, I was happy to find out that my DFS sofas I've waited 3 months for shall be in the store by Wednesday - hurrah ! They never bothered to tell me of course, I had to find that out by chasing them up.  I now need to find someone to help me get the other 2 sofas out of my flat lol !  I wish I had got a nice sheepskin rug to go with them now though.

I was glad to hear that Britain did quite well this year in Tennis although I have no idea how to play the game as I have no hand eye co-ordination ! I think I used to be made to watch it as in my day there was only 3 channels and they were in black and white !

I must say I am looking forward to the end of term.. the boys at school are getting so difficult to manage. It was nice to hear that our school came first in the whole of the borough in basketball and represented the borough in the youth games.  We made it to the quarterfinals and showed great sportsmanship apparently : )

STARTING OUT

Just started my new blog on here - never done one before so please bear with me !!

Had a great time out last night at #Le Boulevard, South Croydon, celebrating @Linnane354 's 35th birthday.  Waiter service left a bit to be desired though -what happened to my starter and main course ?? I blame Michelle lol !

Just had a seventy minute telecon with my mum's old mate Betty (now 90 years old) it was great to hear from her. I feel energised now and although I've only had about four hours sleep (due to heat) I will get on with the housework and shopping and NOT sit and watch tv !!

Let you know later how I got on !
